In the late 1940s/early 1950s, South Indian production houses began making films in Hindi. AVM Productions became very well-known with their runaway hit, Bahar in 1951. This was based on a superhit Tamil film and was the movie that launched Vyjanthimala in Hindi movies.

“Dhool Ka Phool” (1959) is a movie that had Ashok Kumar, Rajendra Kumar, Mala Sinha and Nanda in lead roles. The movie had some nice songs in it. I have already discussed four songs from this movie.

A couple of days back I got to see the movie Naughty Boy (1962). It is a comedy starring Kishore Kumar and Kalpana (often remembered as the heroine singing “main chali main chali” with Shammi Kapoor in Professor, or the object of Dev Anand’s “arrey yaar meri tum bhi ho ghazab” in Teen Deviyan).
