Normally it is believed that O P Nayyar composed music for only two Shammi Kapoor movies, viz. “Tumsa Nahin Dekha” (1957) and “Kashmir Ki Kali”(1964). But that is not correct. O P Nayyar also composed the music of “Mujrim” (1958). This was an Eagle Films Production. It was produced by F C Mehra and directed by O P Ralhan. The movie had Shammi Kapoor, Ragini, Shubha Khote, Kamal Kapoor, S. N. Banerjee, Tun Tun, Mumtaz Begum, Amrit Rana, Abdul, Agha Miraz, Ratan Gaurang, Sood, Johnny Walker, Geeta Bali, Murad, Ramesh Thakur, Padmini etc in it.

“Rangeela” (1953) was Produced and directed by Bhagwan under his banner of Bhagwan Art Production. The movie had Bhagawan, Poornima, Vivek, Badri Prasad, Baburao, Nazeera, Bimal Devi, Heera Sawant, Indira, Rambha, Usha Shukla, Afgan Sundae, Inamdar, Madhav Kale, Radheshyam, Ramlal, Deepak, Balram, Harish, Hanuman, Swami, Swartha, Sitara, Shera, Kammo, Kukku, Maruti etc in it.

Nahm has recently posted Mubarak Begum’s Aaj aayi bahaar le ke dil ka qaraar from Baghdad Ka Jaadoo (1956). The Voice of Mukesh #15

With the previous post in this series, we stepped into Mukesh’s world of 1947. His popularity and demand continued to increase. In this year, he has recorded 20 songs for nine films. Compare this with 7 songs for five films in 1946. We do recall that 1945 was good year for him, as he struck a chord of good fortune and popularity with the iconic song “Dil Jalta Hai To Jalne De”, and had recorded 8 songs for three films, seven of them for ‘Pehli Nazar’ and ‘Moorti’. So, after a slow year in 1946, Mukesh seems to be coming into his own in 1947.
