Two female singers dancing in tandem was a staple diet of B grade historical/ mythological movies of 1960s. But here we find the same thing happening in a Muslim social movie. The movie is “Mere Mehboob” (1963) and here Sadhana and Ameeta are found dancing and singing joyously. They sing in the voices of Lata and Asha Bhonsle respectively.

“Dil Diyaa Dard Liyaa” (1966) was a movie that was just before my time. During 1970s, Amitabh Bachchan had taken over the crown of the number one male actor of the decade. The one actor, who looked like a challenger was Vinod Khanna, but Vinod Khanna’s mind was not into his career. He became a devotee of Achaarya Rajneesh (that is how he was then known, before he began to call himself “Osho”). As a result, he ended up nowhere. He neither got the spiritual nirvaana from his spiritual guru nor could he devote himself whole heartedly to his movie career. If he could only devote himself whole heartedly to his movie career, he could have been number one, at least briefly, and who knows, may be for even longer durations.

I have posted as many as seven songs from “Kashmir Ki Kali” (1964) and one may be excused for assuming that there may not be any more songs left to be posted from this movie. But then one would underestimate the calibre of music directors of those era, if one made such an assumption.

Though I have discussed over three thousands songs in this blog already, there are still a large number of great songs that are yet to be discussed. The long list of readers’ farmaish gives us a good indication of just how many great songs are yet to be covered. There are so many great songs still to be discussed, but there is only so much time in a day, that one can devote to their discussion.
