“Baradari”(1955) was a K Amarnath Production movie. It was produced and directed by K Amarnath. The movie had Ajit, Geeta Bali, Pran, Minoo Mumtaz, Gope, Chandrashekhar, Murad, Tiwari, Amir Banoo, Ramesh Thakur, Kesri, Mangla, Gulnar, Iqbal Sapru, Mumtaz, Cuckoo etc in it.

When I was in school, I did not see a single movie in a movie hall for six years. It was more by compulsion rather than by choice, of course. My elders would neither go to movie halls themselves nor take me. Watching movies spoil children and their future would be spoilt for ever- that was the rationalisation they gave to everyone who would listen. And my movie deprivation era (1972- 1978) were the prime era for Hindi movie watchers. 🙂

Whenever I am reminded of “Jaagte Raho”(1956), I am reminded of the wonderful drunkard song from this movie which is sung by Mukesh and picturised on Motilal. This song,Zindagi khwaab hai is picturised on a fully drunk Motilal swaying merrily in empty streets and going towards his home, with Raj Kapoor looking on.

“Bahaar” (1951) was an A V M Production. It was directed by M V Raman. The movie had Karan Dewan, Vyjyanti Mala (making her Hindi movie debut), Pandhari Bhai, Pran, Tabassum, Gope, Shymalal, Chaman Puri, Leela Misra, Sunder, Om Prakash, etc in it.

“Paanch Dushman”(1973), though a recent movie by the standards of this blog is an obscure movie. From the little that I know, this movie was produced and directed by Manu Narang. The movie had Manu Narang, Pran, Vinod Khanna, Prem Chopra. This is what I have been able to gather from sites that claim to know everything about every movie but their information often leave much to be desired. I have also read some other names as the director of this movie. Not just that, this movie is even confused with another movie called “Daulat Ke Dushman”(1981). And as can be seen, the cast above does not name a lady either.
