Indian folklore has some well known love stories like “Laila Majnu”, “Shirin Farhad” etc. and Hindi movie makers tend to make movies on these characters on quite a regular basis. We had quite a few movies on them from 1940s till 1970s.

There have been two movies called “Sagaai” that I am aware of. The 1951 movie by this name had Premnath, Rehana, Yaaqoob, Gope, VijayLaxmi, Heeralal, Cuckoo etc in lead roles, where as the 1966 movie had Vishwajeet, Rajshree, Rehman, Prem Chopra, Asit Sen, Durga Khote etc in lead roles.

If there was a Shammi Kapoor starrer called “an Evening in Paris” (1966) then the me too producers could be counted upon to come up with a product with similar sounding title. And they came up with “Night in London” (1967) starring Vishwajeet (poor man’s Shammi Kapoor) and Mala Sinha.
