I am often amazed at the high quality output of Rafi towards the 1950s and 1960s when he was at the peak of his career. The 1960s were especially remarkable. In this decade, he sang outstanding songs, not just for big stars, but also for lesser known actors.

“Suraj” was a movie starring Rajendra Kumar and Vyjyanti Mala. I am sure this movie was very successful, as befitted Rajendra Kumar’s nickname of “Jubilee Kumar”.

I have posted quite a few “chitthi” songs from 1970,1980 and 1990s. It is not that such songs were not there in the earlier decades. Not at all. There were such “Chitthi” songs in 1960s too.
