Songs to Tickle Your Memory – 2
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –
For this set of songs, I am confined to the decade of 1960s, and some from 1970. This song is from the 1972 film ‘Anokha Daan’. Simply hard to believe that it is more than four decades that this film was released. The film itself was hard to trace for many years, and was in demand, on account of its music. Now, the film and its songs are easily accessible online.

LOST AND FOUND- GEMS FROM UNRELEASED FILMS….Song No. 2
————————————————————-
When we say ‘Unreleased’ film, it includes films which remained incomplete, films which did not reach the stage of getting censored and films which got censored but were not released in Theatres. To get songs from such films is a difficult task. Luckily, there are some generous minded Record Collectors in India (shri Giridharilal ji Vishwakarma ji) and Pakistan (Janab Shalin Bhatt ji),who upload some gems from unreleased films.

LOST AND FOUND-GEMS FROM UNRELEASED FILMS……Song No. 1
———————————————————-
From 1931 to 2010, a total of 11,150 Talkie films were censored. Once the film gets censored, it is free to be released. However,no one really knows how many films do not reach even the censors. I mean, films get started with very good intentions, but one can not predict whether the film will be completed, censored and released. There are several films which do not reach the theatres.

Today (27 october 2014) is the 13th death anniversary of Pradeep Kumar (4 january 1925- 27 october 2001). Pradeep Kumar and a few of his contemporaries, viz. Bharat Bhushan, Biswajeet etc had the good fortune of figuring in movies with great music. For all their histrionics, it the music in these movies that may have titled the box office scales in the favour of these movies.

Mohd Rafi in the 70s
————————-
The introduction to my Facebook group “Mohd Rafi – The Virtuoso” starts with – “Rafi Saab ek ehsaas hai jise mahsoos kiya jata hai, bayaan nehin. Yeh ek naam hai jise sunte hamare dil mein sukoon aur chhehre par muskurahat aa jati hai (Rafi Saab is a feeling that is felt, which cannot be told. It is a name that brings a smile on our face and we feel relaxed). To us he is ethereal; someone from another world; larger than life. No less than a God. This one name evokes a million feelings inside us. We have a smile on our lips and tears in our eyes. In other words, we feel alive when we hear this name – Mohammad Rafi.”
