Hullo Atuldom
We are on the last date of the first month of the 21st year of the 21st century.
January happens to be a cold month in the northern hemisphere of the earth. And India is in the middle of having winter which is characterized by fog, mist, cold winds etc depending on the Latitude that one resides on. When I used to be in Mumbai, the closest I came to experiencing ‘Sardi’, ‘Thandi’ etc was in the last week of December or first week of January. That too in the morning hours, till about 8 o’clock, then the thermometer would read round about 27 and 30 degrees Celsius during the day. I don’t remember seeing fog or mist there, but I had different climatic experiences once we shifted to Bangalore. I have seen all winter related features which last from November to January end with temperatures dropping to 10 degrees etc. Now in my current station, which is in the midst of lots of greenery and away from the hustle bustle of city-life, though the temperature did not touch 10 degrees on any day, we have been experiencing thick fog, cold winds, cold floors, etc.

Blog 10-Year Challenge (2010-2020) – Song No. 99

This day ten years ago (viz 15 December 2010) was a wednesday, viz middle of the week. I was based at Nagpur. After initial struggle early in the year for settling down, I began to post songs at an average of 5 songs a day from
July 2010 onwards. Then there was a temporary slowdown in November 2010. I picked up pace again in december 2010. I notice that I had covered as many as seven songs on 15 december 2010. This was one of the seven occasions in the month when I posted as many as seven articles in a day. The first post appeared at 7:13 AM and the seventh at 9:27 AM. That is the kind of productivity I was capable of ten years ago. ! 🙂

21/10/2020 – 89th Birth anniversary of Shammi Kapoor

I have in possession for almost a year now, a book titled “Rafinaama” by Isaak Mujawar. One day I just impulsively looked up the book availability on Amazon, and found that only two copies were available. I just ordered it without thinking anything. When the book arrived, then I realized that it was in Marathi. Even for self-proclaimed “kitaabi keeda” like me, sitting down reading it has proven a challenge. Which, I am yet to seriously take up.

Today it is the birthday of Rekha, full name Bhanurekha Ganeshan. Some do refer to her as indian “Greta Garbo” for being elusive. However in this era of snooping social media and swooping television media, if someone of her status and lifetime experiences, wants to be a recluse, thumbs up to her. In her time she has been called “Jane Fonda” of India as well for her efforts to resurrect herself as the style icon of the industry. She is remembered for her many memorable characters enacted on the screen.
