“Jal Tarang” (1949) is a by now obscure movie. This movie, which was produced by Kuldeep Pictures and was directed by Rajendra Sharma had Rehman, Geeta Bali, Shashikala, Shyama, Ram Singh, Rajan Haksar etc in it.

I have been discussing a K L Saigal song daily in this blog and I have so far discussed 58 such songs. I have now reached a stage where almost all the K L Saigal songs uploaded on youtube have been exhausted. Now we are entering into slighly deeper waters as far as K L Saigal songs are concerned. All the songs that one tended to listen to at the stroke of 8 AM in radio Ceylon in the past decades have been covered and now the remaining K L Saigal songs are more rare as far as many listeners, including I am concerned.

Not too many people are aware of this movie called “Uddhaar” (1949). When one searches for the details of this movie, it turns out that the movie had quite a few big names in it. This movie had Dev Anand, Munawwar Sultana,Pratima Devi,Bharat Bhushan,Nirupa Roy,Ram Singh etc in it. This movie, which was produced by Pratibha Chitra Mandir was directed by S S Kulkarni.

During late 1940s and early 1950s, Rehman used to act as hero in Hindi movies. Unfortunately most such movies with him as the hero seem to have ended up as obscure movies, and he finally had to end up making his living as character artist in subsequent years.

Among K L Saigal’s songs, here is a song that I first heard in the video form and was left unsatisfied because it wasonly about one minute long and ended abruptly. The lyrics of the song wre so nice that I was left wanting for the entire song. The audio of the song fortunately contains the whole song.
