O P Nayyar had taken the Bollywood music world by storm in 1950s.He dominated the Bollywood music scene in the late 1950s the way R D Burman would later dominate in 1970s. 1950s and 1960s saw many historical movies ( mostly from Mughal period) being made. These movies have become part of Indian psyche. This movie also had another memorable song picturised on Raj Kapoor. This time the singer was not Mukesh, but Manna Dey. And this song is just as wonderful, if not more. This song has to be among the most memorable semi classical songs in the history of Bollywood movies. Sahir had written the lyrics and Roshan was the music director.

Listening to this Mukesh song all these years without any additional information, I thought that this song had all the attributes of a Raj kapoor song. It was sung by Mukesh, lyrics looked Shailendra like and music appeared Shankar Jaikishan like, and I was sure that the song was picturised on Raj Kapoor.
