Daamad (1978) remains to this day, a comedy movie which I place on par with Padosan (1968), Half Ticket (1964), Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958), Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (2000), etc. The comic timing shown by all the characters, specifically Amol Palekar and Ashok Saraf, is simply brilliant.
Daamad starred Amol Palekar, Ranjeeta, Ashok Saraf, Shreeram Lagoo, Keshto Mukherjee, Preeti Ganguli, etc

Today’s song is from the film Ghungroo-1952. The film was made by Filmkaar Ltd., Bombay. It was directed by Hiren Bose and the music was by C.Ramchandra. The cast of the film consisted of Omprakash, Sumitra Devi, Kuldeep kaur, K.N.Singh, Badri prashad and others.
During the early phase to the Golden era of Hindi film music, the atmosphere in the industry was very cordial. Everyone had the opportunity to grow in his field and there were no ill feelings either on religious basis or success/failure basis. In such a healthy atmosphere, few friendships between actors, directors, MDs and even producers grew deep. Some of them were ideal and people in the industry used to quote their friendship in their gatherings. Here are some examples….

The song in this post is from the movie ‘Chaachaa Bhateejaa’ which was released in the year ‘1977’.
If one goes through the ‘list of movies’ released during this year i.e. 1977, one can notice that this was one among the ‘best years’ for Hindi Films. We can see diverse subjects on which movies were based though the central theme of most of the movies revolved around ‘formula movies and entertainment’.

Today’s song is the last and the final song from the film Chhabili-1960.
Every country has some speciality or a peculiar characteristic, which is unique to itself.
For example, the loyalty of the British Citizen to their King/Queen, the extraordinary National Pride of the Japanese, the pride of every American for their rich country etc. So, what is India’s speciality ?

Remembering Mukesh on his birthday, today 22 July.
As most of my posts feature Mukesh, many of my views on his songs could sound cliches. But then there is so much to write on his voice as words fail every time an attempt is made. There are songs on various aspects, emotions and circumstances one faces in life. I could stick my neck out and say that even many of his sad songs bring joyful solace to the heart. For, the voice sans the music and even the literal meaning of the lyrics feels as if a divine entity is trying to convey the many facets of life.

#the Decade of Sixties – 1961 – 1970 #

(Lyricist – Naqsh Lyallpuri-2)
———————————————————
Today’s song is from the ‘1964’ movie ‘Sarfarosh’. It is a ‘Qawwali Song’ which is my favorite genre of songs. For me listening to ‘Qawwali’ is always exciting and highly enjoyable as they generally have ‘high quality poetry’ in them along with the singing and the music accompanying it.
“Sarfarosh-1964” was a ‘costume drama’ movie directed by Dharam Kumar for ‘United Movies Art, Bombay’. It had Jairaj, Nishi, Jeevan, Jagirdar, Shery, Maruti, Pratima Devi and others. This movie has six songs which were all written by Naqsh Lyallpuri. Music for this movie was composed by S. Mohinder. Asha Bhonsle, Suman Kalyanpur, and Mohd Rafi had given their voices to the songs in this movie.
