Today’s song is from the ‘1972’ movie ‘Dil Ka Raaja’.
This is one movie which I came across while presenting the ‘missing movies of 1972’ on the blog. Though this movie made its debut on the blog way back on 14.10.2014, only one song from this movie has been posted on the blog. I do not remember to have listened to other songs from this movie. That is the reason for this post where today we will enjoy the second song from this movie.

Today’s song is a Non Film Song (NFS) – for a change ! It is sung by Pankaj Mallick. Lyricist is Fayyaz Hashmi and the song is set to music by Pankaj Mallick himself. It must be a song originally recorded before the Partition, because the Lyricist migrated to Pakistan after that in 1947.

Today’s song is from the film Diwali-1940.
Going through the Film Index book, listing all Hindi films from 1931 to 2012, I was surprised to see that only one film was made with the title of Diwali. One more film was Diwali ki Raat-56. Similarly, only one film was made with the title Dussehra-1956. There are 2 films on Holi-1940 and 1984 while another was Holi ayee re of 1970. This is the end of Indian Festival films. 2 Films were made on Eid ka chaand in 1933 and 1964, Idd ka salaam-1976 and finally Idd Mubarak-1988.

Today’s song is from the ‘1959’ movie ‘Saahil’.
I recall becoming aware of this title while going throough HFGK Vol-III (1951-1960) during my stay at Nagpur. I would regularly browse through the IIIrd volume of HFGK for the decade 1951-1960 those days(2015-2017). After that I went to Kenya for a project which lasted around three years. I came back after completion of the project in December’2019. Since then, I am more or less sharing songs from seventies and eighties, sometimes end of sixties. Songs of 1950s have become few and far between.

Today’s song is from an obscure old film – Chhote Sarkar-1938.
My today’s post is No.32 of this year i.e. 2022. Since 1st January 2022, the pattern of my posts seems to have changed perceptibly. Earlier I was known for writing on films of the 30’s and the 40’s on priority, but this year, till my last post (31 posts), I have written only 3 posts on films of the 30’s, only 11 posts on films of the 40’s but 17 posts on films of the 50’s. Come to think of it, there is no intentional shift in my policy or any purpose in doing so, but it looks like it is happening inadvertently. My today’s post will be only the 4th post on a film of the 30’s this year.
