While we in this blog discuss songs, we also discuss other topics of common interest, like sports (mainly cricket), festivals, history, economy etc.
Tokyo Olympics concluded a few days back. As Indians, we had lots of sporting events to look forward to. Indians were participating in many events. Indians had pinned hopes of medals on quite a few of them, seeing that some of them were actually ranked world number 1, 2, 3 etc in their sports and they were given similar seedings too in the Olympics. But most of these sportspersons disappointed.

Hullo Atuldom
Today’s song is a melody from the late ’90s. It is from “Dushman” (1998) which was produced by Pooja Bhatt & Mukesh Bhatt and directed by Tanuja Chandra. It was well received by the critics and masses. It had a cast of Kajol (in a double role) with Sanjay Dutt, Ashutosh Rana, Tanvi Azmi, Jas Arora, Pramod Moutho, Naresh Suri etc. Kunal Khemu played a 11 year-old helper of the blind ex-serviceman played by Sanjay Dutt. The movie had nine songs (two songs have two versions) penned by Anand Bakshi and composed by Uttam Singh.

Hullo Atuldom
Choosing a song for today’s post was not so easy. We are celebrating our beloved Kishore Kumar’s 92nd birthday and seem to have run out of all popular songs. Songs that are played on the repeat on music channels and FM radio are not for us. We, a tribe that is called Atulites, living in Atulsongaday.me kingdom (Atuldom for short) are not satisfied with oft-repeated songs.

Hullo Atuldom
I have been wanting to send this song for almost a week or ten days now. I had first thought of 12th July which was the death anniversary of Jubilee Kumar a.k.a Rajendra Kumar. But, I was unable to, due to various reasons.
Then, yesterday, 20th July the birth anniversary of Rajendra Kumar- missed that too. Why? I was too busy attending (online) birthday parties. And reading all the blog-birthday posts. That simple.
But today is another opportunity to present this song to the blog-followers. Anand Bakshi – the lyricist- has his birth anniversary today. Would have been 91.

Today’s song is from the movie ‘Taal’ which was released in ‘1999’.
I was staying at Bareilly (1998-2004) at that time. I remember to have watched this movie with my family and enjoyed it a lot. I liked it so much that I watched this movie twice. First time with my office colleague and second time with my family. I liked this movie and specially its music too. As was usual for a Subhash Ghai movie, this movie too had a good music scored by A.R. Rehman (who was collaborating with Subhash Ghai for the first time).
