“Naiyya”(1979) was directed by Prashant Nanda for Chanda Pictures, Bombay. And all these days I was under the impression that this movie was a Rajshree Productions movie. 🙂

“Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se”(1978) was inspired from Eric Segal’s immortal novel “Love Story”.
Majority of movie watchers including me, who watched “Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se”(1978) did not know about the source of inspiration of the movie. The movie was a bo office hit. People wathing the movie liked it for its story and for its music. My own feeling is that the music of this movie may have played the bigger role in ensuring that the movie was a money spinner for Rajshree Productions, the makers of this movie.

Naseeruddin Shah, Vijayendra, Jagdeep, Pinchoo Kapoor, Gayatri, Anand Balraj, Rajendranath, Mukri, Viju Khote, C S Dubey, Anand Joshi, Murad, Rajan Kapoor, Prakash Mishra, Pardesi, Kirti Kumar, Prem Prakash, Leela Mishra, Shriram Shashtri, Sudarshan Sethi, Amal Sen, Hansni, Kavita, Sulochana, Birbal, Tito, Sikandar e Azam etc were also there in the movie.

So many times it happens, a song starts to play, and the mind automatically thinks of another song that expresses similar emotions. I am sure we will be able to list numerous such pairs. There is after all, only so many emotions that the human mind plays with. It is the poet’s mind that will express the same thought in a huge variety of combinations of words.

Asha ji, one of the leading lady playback singers in Indian cinema, turns 83 today. Seventy of thes 83 years have been spent in an active career, probably the longest such accomplishment by a playback singer.
