We in this blog have achieved several milestones, but this milestone is something in its own league. Today we are celebrating a humongous individual milestone. With this post, Lata Mangeshkar reaches 4000 songs as a playback singer in this blog !
More than one decade ago, She had touched 1000 songs in the blog as the blog itself touched 3000 songs. Imagine, today she alone touches 4000 songs in the blog.
I had run a series on Lata Mangeshkar’s songs (yearwise) in the blog. That series, which ran every monday for 63 weeks (viz for one year and three months). In that series we had an indepth look at the list of songs that Lata Mangeshkar had sung in Hindi movies.

So, we are at this familiar landmark again. The landmark of a century post for the blog. This is the 192nd century for the blog. In other words, this article is song post number 19200 for the blog. It appears as if the blog began just a few days ago in the month of july. In reality the blog began in July 2008 (19 July) and today we are in 2025. We have completed 17 years of continuous existence which is quite an achievement for an online activity. There are movies that are well made with good story line. I, who considered myself as a moviegoer with highbrow taste ( 🙂 ) liked such movies. For example, I liked movies like Sholay, Deewaar, Don etc. Then there are movies with silly story lines that low brow audiences liked but I did not.
Some of these silly story line movies went on to become big hits whereas some movies flopped.

Yesterday (26 January 2025) was 75th Republic day of India. It was a sunday and I wonder if some people who had to turn up for flag unfurling in their workplaces were unhappy that they had to come to office even on a sunday. 🙂 I also wonder if some school kids felt the same way. Back in my school days (which I am aghast to realise was half a century ago), school kids looked up to this day and 15th august because it meant every student got laddoos to eat. Many school kids even brought their younger siblings (who had not yet started going to school) with them because they too got laddoos on the occasion. 🙂 Perhaps some of these young kids were motivated to go to school later because of this fact.
I recall that one of my classmates had decided that he would become a member of school football team when he reached class nine. His reason was simple, players of the football team got jalebis after each practice session. 🙂 He actually became a member of the football team as he had planned. 🙂 I hope school kids of today have the same motivation alive in them to come to school, play in their school team etc. 🙂

I have mentioned it several times that after posting the century post in the blog, I heave a huge sigh of relief and start relaxing, secure in the knowledge that the next century post was far far away. But the next century post occasion arrives way earlier (it seems to me) than expected. It demonstrates that posting 100 articles is not such a daunting task if one just avoids DOT days and posts one or two articles in a day.

Once I post the century post in the blog, I heave a big sigh of relief and tell myself that I am free from tension as the next century post is far far away. So it came as a surprise to me that the next cenbtury post for the blog has arrived. I thought that the previous blog century post had appeared just a few days ago ! How can we reach the next century so fast ? On checking up, I realised that the previous century post viz blog post number 18500 has appeared on 14 september 2024. Today is 3 November, so fifty days have passed. 100 songs in 50 days are to be expected, even with the slow rate of posts that we have settled into now a days.
