“Chaand” songs are always a delight to listen to. In my view, the first “Chaand” song was perhaps the title song of “Chaand”(1944) which I discovered some four years ago. I had discussed this song in the blog at that time.

Today’s date is an important date. Two very unique artists share this date as their birth anniversary. Two artists who have made some of the most memorable contributions to the Hindi film song and music. The two names are Sajjaad Husain Sb, music director par excellence and Suraiya, the singer with an enchanting voice and an unmatchable repertoire of renditions.

THE VELVET MAGIC-TALAT DUETS ….Song No.-9
———————————————-
Today’s song is from the film Bahu-55. It is sung by Talat and Geeta Dutt.
Talat Mehmood and Geeta Dutt have sung very few duets together. This is rather surprising because both of them were in their prime and in good demand during the period from 1948 to mid 60s. The statistics in this blog shows that they have sung at least 20 duets in 16 movies (including this song). This figure is higher than the statistics available elsewhere which states that they sang only 13 duets together in 10 movies.

This song is a special search request from a dear friend Arvinder ji Sharma. Regular team members would have noticed this name being appended to the email ‘To’ list in recent email exchanges. I got introduced to him, at first through our mutual friend Zafar Bhai, and then once again the threads met thanks to AK ji (of SOY) when he invited us for a get together.

Mohammed Rafi – The Incomparable – 7
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –
“I’m…fine. I’m just sorry you had to wander under the little black cloud that’s been following me around all day. That’s probably why I nearly ran you over earlier, and why you got stuck with me now.”
Refusing to consider what else could go wrong, she aimed a commendably calm smile at him. If she’d learned anything from her years in advertising, it was that perception was everything. If you appeared in control, everyone thought you were.
“The good news is that it’s me, not you, and that bad days get better.”
“What about bad weeks?”
“Those are the ones that build character.” Or so her grandma said.
“Bad months?” he asked, and watched as her smile made it to her eyes. Something knowing shifted in those doe-brown depths.
“That’s when you need to find something to do that takes you away from your problems for a while. Whatever you’re dealing with won’t go away,” she warned him,“but for that hour or that day, you have taken away its power over you.”

The above is just a portion of some pulp fiction that I keep reading every now and than. When there is nothing good to read, usually after the Sudoku in the newspapers is done and i have read the usual article’s that are readable in the newspaper. Some times these books have these ” nuggets of wisdom ” or some portions where a lot is said like in the above portion. I had copied and saved in the drafts to use for a suitable song some months back, though it has no connection with the song post here.

On this blog, we have discussed often about the confusion in data and information related to films, songs and artists. Across the various sites online, and even in print sources, there is so much misinformation floating around that it is really difficult to now have a trust on any one source. The subject of this post is one such case in example.
