In the past, I had posted a song from a movie called “Insaaf” (1966) in this blog. Now I have come to know that there was another movie by the same name that was released 10 years earlier. This movie viz “Insaaf” (1956) had Ajit and Nalini Jaiwant in lead roles.

“Anpadh”(1962) had several songs sung by Lata. I was under the impression that all these songs were picturised on Mala Sinha, but that is not the case.

When new actors are to be introduced in lead roles in Bollywood movies, they are normally introduced in love stories. In most such cases, the hero tends to be the producer’s son and the heroine is a newcomer, or vice versa.

When one watches a song picturised on Shammi Kapoor, one half expects the song to be sung by Rafi and the music to be composed by Shankar Jaikishan. And that is how it has been for much of Shammi Kapoor’s career during his heydays.

“Toote Khilaune” (1978) was a flop movie and rightly so. Who in his right minds would like to go and buy tickets to watch nobodies like Shekhar Kapoor and Shabana Azmi in lead roles ? Neither I nor anybody else, of course.

“Chaubees Ghante” (1958) is a very old movie. This is a movie of that era when villains like Premnath, Ajit etc used to be heroes. Premnath in fact is the hero of this movie.

Love songs in Bollywood movies have often used “Chaand” to good effect. In such songs, “Chaand” symbolised beauty, what with female face being compared with “Chaand” (moon) and chaandni (moonlight) being used as a romantic backdrop for some memorable songs.
