Wishing all followers of ASAD a very Happy Diwali… I know the festival of lights is over but the schools are yet to reopen after the Diwali Holidays. So the spirit of Diwali is still there in the air.

Exactly a year ago I had written out the lyrics for a song from “Uljhan” . The post to that was done by our Sudhirji. I am hundred percent sure that I couldn’t have done such a good post. In there he had mentioned that is was 29 years since Harihar Jethalal Zariwaala aka Sanjeev Kumar aka Hari Bhai left us. How soon one year has passed and it is now the 30th anniversary of this “switch on, switch off actor”. (I have borrowed this term from Sudhirji’s write up.)

Hullo to all in Atuldom
Recently I made a few discoveries. That without effort some of the artists reach centuries on our blog and we work towards finding unspotted songs of others and these artists are plodding their way towards reaching even their first 1000. For example Indeevar has only 192 out of a total 1875 song penned by him. Similarly Madan Mohan has 471 songs from his 630 among the music directors. Kishore Kumar has only 926 out his 2709 songs here on the blog. And hold your breath there are a whopping 2900 Lata songs (at her last century) and 2466 Rafi songs on the blog. So do we say (in Gabbar style) “bahut be insafi hai yeh” or do we say that we have been partial to these two or is it a case of chalte chalte they just reached these numbers without anyone’s knowledge. Whatever be the case in my own small way let me contribute to rectifying the situation.

Here is a quick quiz. Can anyone tell what is 26th October all about? Well well since this is a post by me obviously the answer to the quiz is birthday. But whose? One of our —ahh is it ok if I call the person a founder follower of the blog? One who has seen this ASAD from day one. Someone whose farmaish was first on the blog. Someone who saw the exclusive farmaish page on the blog first and sent a list of 5 farmaishes. One who was Atulji’s online friend first before physically meeting him. Am I right Atulji?

18th September 2015 is the birthday of Kaifi and Shaukat Azmi’s daughter Shabana Azmi. She turns 66 on this day.
There are many children who are known as so-and-so’s child and there are many children who make a place for themselves in public eye and then the parents are called so-and-so’s parents. That means Shabana Azmi’s Pehchaan need not be as Kaifi and Shaukat Azmi’s daughter. She is a persona by herself. Being the poet’s daughter or the veteran stage actress’s daughter only explains her artistic leanings.

Ganpati Bappa Morya!! One more Ganesh festival in the life of this blog. We have been having songs from bollywood movies posted in this blog every year. So why should this year be any different. And have we run out of Ganesh festival songs? Answer is no. As long as bollywood is there we will have some hero do the Ganesh aarti and set up a Ganesh pandal—atleast in their films.

Does the name Sunil Sikanderlal Kapoor ring a bell in our minds? No? But if I say “Nandu, sabka Bandhu”, will that help us to identify the person I am talking of? I think the answer will be yes, by some of the regulars in the blog. Now one more famous line from this actor—“main crime master GO-GO, ankhen nikal ke goti kheloonga”. I can quote so many of his dialogues that I will stop here or the readers will say –“Samajhta nahin hai yaar” (she is boring us). Now I am sure that all of you would have come pretty close to identifying the actor who celebrated his 58th birthday yesterday (3rd September).

Raksha bandhan comes in the festive month of Shravan. This year it is on 29th August 2015. Wishing all a very Happy Raksha Bandhan.
This is the eighth time we are celebrating it on our blog. Does that mean we have run out of Raksha Bandhan songs to be posted? Actually if we take a look at the list on the right side of our blog –the list which breaks up the blog category wise— we find 21 Rakhi songs have been posted beginning with the all-time universal favourite “Bhaiyya Mere Rakhi Ke Bandhan Ko Nibhana” from the 1959 “Chhoti Behan”. The last song in this category was in 2013 by Sudhirji “pardesi ho humse rakhiya bandha” from a 1944 movie.

Dushman (1971) was a movie starring the hit Jodi of the 70s viz. Rajesh Khanna- Mumtaz. It was the story of a convict who is given a punishment with a difference. His truck runs over a villager who is the only earning member of the family. The poor victim is responsible for his old parents, unmarried sister and his own family –wife and two kids. Now the judge gives the truck driver (Rajesh Khanna) a punishment to look after the family, their field etc. in the village he comes across a girl who shows bioscope shows to the children in and around the village. Falls in love with her. Tries to solve all the problems of the accident victims’ family etc. this is the story in brief.
