One reason why many old songs ( 1970s and earlier) are popular is of course to do with nice music in these songs. Moreover, the music directors ( there were many outstanding music directors at that time) recognised the value of lyrics. And they would wait for lyricists to write their songs.

Kishore Kumar has sung a large number of songs for the leading actors of their eras, viz Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan. In addition, he also sang many songs for actors who were near the top, but who never quite reached there.

It is a very cute, and at the same time very philosophical song. In fact, those who may have only listened to the song without watching the movie may even call it a happy-sad song.

I had mentioned a little known fact in some earlier posts that Madan Mohan had once given music for an Amitabh Bachchan movie. Here is another little known fact- Amitabh Bachchan has also worked in a Rajshri productions movie. And this Rajshri production movie was very much a small budget deglamourised affair as was the case for all Rajshri productions movies of those days.
