I was aware of “Aarzoo” (1965) which was a musical blockbuster. Then I became aware of another movie of this name that came in 1950 and I found the songs of this movie “boring”. In fact, that is what happened with me for songs of movies with similar names.Being a youngster growing in 1970s, I liked music of “Andaaz”(1971),”Adalat” (1976) , “Parvarish”(1977) and disliked music of older movies with same name and wondered why older generation created such “boring” music.

“Ziddi” (1948) is a movie with which Kishore Kumar began his career as a playback singer. Another youngster,viz Prem Dhawan, too began his career as a lyricist with this movie.

“Satyakaam” (1969), which was a critically acclaimed movie that failed at the box office, had some nice songs in it which have sadly been forgotten with time. And there are people like me who never heard the songs of this movie, despite living though that era.

Though few people today talk of this movie, “Durgesh Nandini” (1956) was a well known movie even in 1970s when I was growing up in the sense that I used to read about this movie in magazines.

“Ek Mahal Ho Sapnon Ka” (1975) is a movie where Dharmendra and Sharmila Tagore were paired together. This movie had some superb songs in it.

I am told that 8 december is the birthday of not one but two actors. Yes, both Dharmendra (DOB- dec 8, 1935) and Sharmila Tagore (DOB 8 dec 1946) were born on this date.

“Mujhe Jeene Do” (1963) is a movie with a moving message. It was about the lives of bandits. What lies in store for the bandits who want to get reformed and join the mainstream of society, with same hopes and aspirations for their kids like normal people ? This movie is a moving picturisation on this issue.

I was aware of a movie called “Do Phool” (1973) but it now I have come to know that there was another movie of this name in 1958. This movie “Do Phool”(1958) is far more obscure that its 1973 namesake. This movie was obviously a B grade movie with no saleable stars in it.
