The autobiography of C Ramchandra( Majhya Jeevana chi Sargam-copyright by Yeshwant Ramchandra Chitalkar) is somewhat disappointing. Its major part is spent on describing various exploits of C Ramchnadra with different women. Normally one expectes that the writer would focus on his worldly achievements and creations, which gave him name and fame, but on this count this book is a failure. Not that it is totally bereft of such things, but considering his musical successes during the Golden Era, one feels deprived of more discussions on music related topics.

Recently I had mentioned the name of Shirish Kanekar, a writer on HFM of yore. He writes in Marathi. He has a photographic memory and hundreds of anecdotes about songs, singers, composers, directors and everybody in films. He has written about 30 odd books, most of which are highly readable.

A lovely duet that has so far not made it to this blog. Two songs from the film ‘Ghar Ghar Ki Baat’ (1959) are already posted here. This here is the third song from this film. A wonderful duet of two hearts in love expressing desires to go together to destinations of happiness and love. The singing voices are of Manna Dey and Lata Mangeshkar. A gem of a song that is a wonderful memory from the days of listening to the radio.

‘Badaa Aadmi’ from 1961 is a film name, when mentioned, would mostly elicit a reaction, “. . .which one did you say?”. For it is a name that is not well remembered. Fans of Sheikh Mukhtar would remember this film though, but then not many other folks.

Autobiography(AB) is a type of literature which has a limited, selective and captive readership. Only those who are connected with the writer, personally or professionally will be interested in reading it. It can not have a widespread readership. A Doctor’s AB may be read by members of his profession or by those who are connected personally with him. Others who are unconnected may not even buy that book.
