“Shabaab” (1954) was a Sadiq Preoduction movie. It was produced and directed by M Sadiq. Star cast of the movie included names like Bharat Bhushan, Nutan, Badri Prasad, Yashodhara Katju, Wasti, etc. From the songs of this movie, I have deduced that the storyline of this movie was losely based on Sanskrit scholar Bilhan’s work which was written in 11th century AD. Bilhan should not be confused with Kalhan who also lived in the same areas (Kashmir), but one century later and who wrote “Rajtarangini”.

“Madaari” (1959) was a quintessential B grade movie. Such movies normally remained confined to their dedicated fans and failed to register among the mainstream movie watchers. “Dil Diya Dard Liya” (1966) is an archtypical Dilip Kumar movie. At least that is how it appeared to me when I became aware of this movie in my younger days. This movie was being shown in an open space in my colony for free. Young kids like me and my friends , after suffering through the movie for almost half the lenth of the movie, could take it no more and decided to call it quits. “What is all this pyar vyaar, rona dhona, why cannot the hero indulge in some maar dhaad instead”, our leader wondered aloud, and the rest of the kids whole heartedly agreed.

If regulars of this blog are wondering at the reasons behind the reduced output of this blog in the previous days, including no song yesterday, the reason is, I am at a place now where access to internet, especially of the required speed is at a premium. This is in addition to the fact that I am not in a position to get adequate access to internet either. Hopefully things will begin to look up in coming days.
