2015 was the first time I wrote a post for this celebrity’s birthday. I will not say that I am a huge fan of his but I definitely like is work. He is one of the many actors who are in the film industry due to the legendary Pransaab i.e. this celebrity is inspired by or may even be a fan of Pransaab and has enacted a variety of characters on-screen much like the legend Pransaab.

Hullo Atuldom
There is a popular movie of the late ’70s, that has had a rather slow journey through the blog. With this post I hope to bring it to the YYIIPPEEEE station.
It began its journey on the blog with its most iconic song. A song that gave its singer -the legend Mohd. Rafi the National Award for best singer as well as that year’s Filmfare award. The song sort of put all doubting Thomas(es) in their place.

August 1st
Important for me, used to be my mom’s birthday. Thinking of her has only reinforced my feelings that the song with this post convey. She was one lively person who smiled through her illness and never let us know how much pain she was going through. She was always ready to accompany my dad on whatever tour he chose to organise. And I am sure they enjoyed every bit of their time and life together. That is the exact feeling that today’s song speaks of.
“Live life as if there are no tomorrows” – Kal Kya Hoga Kis Ko Pata, Abhi Zindagi Ka Le Lo Mazaa.
August 1st also happens to be the birth anniversaries of Meena Kumari and Bhagwan Dada. Meena Kumari, born Mahjabeen Bano, would have been 86 and Bhagwan Dada, born Bhagwan Abhaji Palav, would have been 103.

Not all journeys have a pre-determined destination.
Sometimes a traveler sets off on a journey, purely with the intention of travel. For how long, which specific places he will travel to, where he will stop, who and what he will encounter…these are all unknown.
All he knows is that he has the desire to travel – and will travel for as long as he has such desire, and the ability to travel.

Blog 10-Year Challenge (2009-19) – Song No. 12
————————————————
Ten years ago, this day in 2009, the film ‘Darling Darling’ made its debut on our blog. This 1977 production from Fortune Films International, has six songs. The song that brought in this film to our blog is the Kishore Kumar favorite – “Aise Na Mujhe Tum Dekho”.
Then, over the past decade, only one more song of this film was added. And now, in the 10 Year Challenge series, we are bringing on the third song of this film. An interesting side thought – maybe in the years to come, this blog and its data, relating to various stats, as well as patterns of how the films went from debut to yippee, will become fodder for PhD research projects at universities that have film studies departments. Research scholars will be analyzing such data to find correlations between the patterns of appearance of the songs of a film, and the perceived quality of its music, and its popularity curve. Interesting food for thought, right?

‘Mere Jeewan Saathi-1972’ is well known for his music and its songs composed by R.D.Burman. Though the film was not that much successful as compared to other movies of the Superstar Rajesh Khanna at that time, its songs are still remembered and few of them have become timeless classics viz. ‘o mere dil ke chain’, ‘chalaa jaata hoon kisi dhoon mein’ etc.

June 27th (2016) is a date with RD Burman. It is his 77th birth anniversary. We know so many things about RD Burman by heart. We don’t require a wikipedia or any other site to tell us that he was son of SD Burman the music director of the golden era. We need no site to tell us that Ashok Kumar was the one who gave him the nickname Pancham. We know that he used to be addressed as Panchamda. We know that he had a knack of making music with a spoon and a glass like he did for the song from “Yaadon Ki Baraat”– Churaa liya hai tumne jo dil ko. He had worked with all the best song writers and singers of his time. He was comfortable giving music based on ragas or western beats.
