(Celebrating 100th song of Singer Bhupinder Singh on the blog)
Today’s song is from the movie ‘Soorajmukhi’ (as spelled in the title of the movie) from the year 1992. I came across this song almost five years back and liked it very much. I have listened to this song several times by now. However, I didn’t have much information about this movie so kept covering this song pending for future. Thereafter I noticed that this movie was made available on an online video sharing platform. I watched the movie and then I became curious to know more about the lyricist of the songs of this movie viz Sharda Nand Tiwary. I had earlier presented a song penned by him on the blog on 01.11.2022. That song too is a very nice song with good lyrics. Finally, one day I came across the profile of Sharda Nand Tiwary on a social media platform for professionals. With this information on hand, I was now ready to present this song.

Today’s song is from the film Sanskar-1958.
There were 3 films made with the same title, in 1940, 1952 and 1958. This film was made by Filmistan. It was directed by Chaturbhuj Doshi. This was ,incidentally, his last film as a Hindi film director.
During the early era of talkie films, till the 1960s, there was a horde of Gujarati directors and producers. Bhatts, Trivedi, Thakur, Shahs, Desais, Pancholi, Doshi, Daves were some names frequently found directing various genres. Usually they specialised in certain classes and types of films. The Bhatts (Shankar and Vijay) liked to do Mythological films, Ramnik Shah handled stunt, action, fantasy films, Jayant Desai was social film oriented etc.

This date 50 years ago (15 March 1975- 15 March 2025)
Today is 15 March 2025. It means that the date 50 years ago was 15 March 1975.
If one asked me what I was doing on 15 march 1975, I would have drawn a blank. But if someone informed me what major event took place on 15 march 1975 then I would be able to tell what I was doing that day.
I came to know through some online articles that 15 march 1975 was the date when India won the final of World cup Hockey and became world cup champion for the first (and till now only) time.

Hullo Atuldom
A long time ago, sometime in my childhood, there used to be an ad that used to start with “a small & happy family”. The family is shown to be sitting and enjoying quality, family time when suddenly there is a problem in the form of a flickering TUBE-LIGHT. Basically it was an ad for some brand of TUBE-LIGHTS that we used to see in cinema halls. From that ad, I learnt that small things effect smooth functioning of families.

#The Decade of Sixties – 1961 – 1970 #
———————————————————————
Today’s song is from the 1962 movie ‘Rashtraveer Shivajee’. I had come across this song recently when I was presenting patriotic songs during Republic Day celebrations. I was looking for songs that praise our national heroes, freedom fighters, and the many unsung heroes who fought the battle for freedom. Before the Britishers our country was invaded by various alien rulers. These rulers tried to dominate the native people by crossing all limits of cruelty, killing them, making them slaves, by converting their faith and religion. However, from time to time there have been courageous and brave sons and daughters of this land who fought to protect the native people of this country. They included rulers from various regions as well as people like Shivaji who created their own kingdom- or ‘Hindavee Swaraajya’ and gave fierce fights to rulers like Moghuls.

Yesterday (26 January 2025) was 75th Republic day of India. It was a sunday and I wonder if some people who had to turn up for flag unfurling in their workplaces were unhappy that they had to come to office even on a sunday. 🙂 I also wonder if some school kids felt the same way. Back in my school days (which I am aghast to realise was half a century ago), school kids looked up to this day and 15th august because it meant every student got laddoos to eat. Many school kids even brought their younger siblings (who had not yet started going to school) with them because they too got laddoos on the occasion. 🙂 Perhaps some of these young kids were motivated to go to school later because of this fact.
I recall that one of my classmates had decided that he would become a member of school football team when he reached class nine. His reason was simple, players of the football team got jalebis after each practice session. 🙂 He actually became a member of the football team as he had planned. 🙂 I hope school kids of today have the same motivation alive in them to come to school, play in their school team etc. 🙂

Today’s song is from a social film-Us Paar-1944.
The film was made under the banner of Sun Art Pictures. It was directed by Chiman Lal Luhar and the music was given by Firoz Nizami, B.A.
Those days, film industry had very few educated persons and those who were graduates, proudly flaunted their degrees after their names. Of course not everyone did that. The director Chiman Lal Luhar was also a Science graduate, but he never put B.Sc. after his name. Not that it added to their popularity or it was in any way helpful in improving their performance but it was a tool to make them more respected in the crowd of film fraternity.
