“Gumnaam” (1965) was a Prithvi Prictures production movie. It was produced by N N Sippy and directed by Raja Nawathe. The movie had Manoj Kumar, Nanda, Pran, Dhumal, Mehmood, Helen, Madan Puri, Tarun Bose, Manmohan, Naina, Laxmi Chhaya, Hiralal etc in it.

This is the only song left from the film Bhoot Bungla (1965) on this blog. The title song of the film is unique in many ways. This features the first song by the composer himself. Not only does he sing but also act in this song. He plays the main lead, Mehmood’s best friend, which he also was in the real life.

Pati Patni (1966) was R D Burman’s fifth released film, after his debut in Chhote Nawab (1961). Most probably his close friend Mehmood procured this project for him as well.

“Gumnaam” (1965) was based on Agatha Christie’s suspense novel “And then there were none”. And it must be said that this Hindi movie version added its own flavour to the story tailormade for its target audience. I am not sure that the original novel had a butler quite like Mehmood, for instance.
