When I finally reached that magic figure (on 29 may 2010), I found that I had just scratched the surface, as far as discussing the great Hindi movie songs was concerned and that many great songs were not yet discussed.

“Johar Mehmood in Goa” (1965), as the title suggests, is a movie starring I S Johar and Mehmood. The two go to Goa in a bid to liberate it. Yes, Goa was still under Portuguese occupation till 1961 while the rest of India had got independence in 1947 itself. It was in 1961, when it finally became a part of India.

Here is a mourning song from “Batwaaraa” (1961). No one had died. It is the age old relations that have are getting severed though. The two brothers, who lived under the same roof, now want to partition the home as they cannot see eye to eye with each other. So a wall is being erected right in front of the courtyard to partition the house into two.

All these days I was under the impression that I had discussed this song long back, but I was woken up from my complacency by a farmaish from this song. I have discussed as many as six songs from this movie, and it is a great oversight on my part that I forgot to discuss this song till now.

“Dulhan Ek Raat Ki” (1966) is a movie that had Dharmendra and Nutan in lead roles. The movie itself failed at the box office though one song from this movie, viz Ek haseen shaam ko dil mera kho gayaa has gone on to become an immortal song.
