But I was not much aware of this movie. So it shows that this movie was one of those boring art movies that most movie goers would not touch with a barge pole.

“Chhoti Bahu” (1971) is a movie which was produced by Seeroo Daryani and Darius Gotia.K B Tilak was the director. The movie had Rajesh Khanna,Sharmila Tagore Nirupa Roy, Shashikala, I. S. Johar, Madhumati, Jayshree T., Master Suraj, Mehmood Junior, Tarun Bose, Shivraj, Jairaj, Master Ratan, Radhika Rani, Irshad Panjatan, Chandrima Bhaduri etc in it.

“Midnight” (1972) is a movie that apparently never got completed. Not much is known about this movie today.

A few songs of this movie were already recorded before the movie was shelved midway. Fortunately, some of these songs have reached the public domain and we have access to these songs.

There are some songs that I heard in my younger days and liked them without having much clue about their details. with time, these songs were forgotten. I have become reacquainted with several of these songs again after a passage of three decades or so. And I am not the only one. Several readers of the same generation also offered similar remarks about these songs.

By 1970s, Rajshree Productions had hit upon a cost effective winning formula. In their movies, they would ensure that the story and music was the king and actors were non entities. They would hire newcomers in lead roles and make them work for pittance. As for music, they would hire music directors who were prepared to work for less fee. Their standard music director throughout 1970s was Ravindra Jain, who doubled up as the lyricist too. His music was the single biggest reason for the success of these movies as far as I am concerned. personally I felt the same way that a mouse felt when he heard the music of the pied Piper. whenever I heard the music of a Rajshree Productions movie, I felt like going to the movie hall showing that movie.

In 1970s, there were two title songs beginning with the words ‘Mera Jeewan’. One of the songs was ‘Mera Jeewan Kora Kaagaz…’ from “Kora Kaagaz”(1974). Another song was ‘Mera jeewan kuchh kaam na aaya..’ from “Mera Jeewan”(1976).

“Gomti Ke Kinaare” (1972), despite being a recent movie by the standards of this blog is a forgotten movie. this movie was produced and directed by Saawan Kumar Tak, who would later on specialise in making movies on the themes of Saajan and Sautan.
