“Noorie” (1979) was directed by Manmohan Krishna (character artist) for Yashraj Films production. This was a small budget love story that the Yashraj Films had planned as a quicky btheir ambitious “Kaala Patthar” (1979).

One of the earliest articles in the blog that gave me immense satisfaction was the article on the song “Din hai suhaana aaj pehli taareekh hai”. This song, that brings back nostalgia big time for people growing up in 1960s and 1970s is from “Pahli Taareekh” (1954) and it was played on Radio Ceylon (later SLBC) on the first day of every month. Listening to this song on the first day of every month in the “puraani filmon ke geet” programme was a divine experience. One needed to live in that era to savour it. Those who could never savour it because they were not born then, I can only say-tough luck. Better luck next time. 🙂

The occasion is upon us. It is the 10000 song milestone in the blog. A celebration of a trail, which one wishes never ends till the end of days.
Ek ravish pe chalen kuchh nishaan chhoden
Rahe na rahen hum, naghme sadaa rahen
And here I am trying not to be emotional and be the usual matter of fact self. I dont know where this post is to fit with all the planned special posts for the grand event.

“Sargam”(1979) was produced by N N Sippy and directed by K Vishwanath. The movie was a remake of Telugu hit movie called “Siri Siru Muvva” (1976) starring Jayaprada and Chandramohan.

There has been a close relationship between Urdu/Hindi poets and Hindi film industry especially after the advent of talkie films in 1931. Arzoo Lucknowi, Faiyaaz Hashmi, Behzad Lucknowi, Dr. Safdar ‘Aah’ Sitapuri, D N Madhok, Pandit Indra Chandra, Pandit Madhur, Kavi Pradeep, Pandit Narendra Sharma and many more were part of the Hindi film industry in the 30s and 40s.

Today is 29th December 2013. The 71st birthday of an actor who went on to become a SUPERSTAR like none before him. He reigned in the hearts of the Bollywood movie buffs for a long time. He had 15 consecutive hits from 1969-71. Even after that for a few years his movies were immensely popular and ladies were so obsessed with him that there are stories as to how he used to get Fan-Mail written in blood. Yes we are speaking of Rajesh Khanna who else as I am sure everyone would have understood by now.
