The commentor had also queried if Atul ji could name a film with all song sung by Rafi. When I saw that comment, the first movie that came to my mind was ‘Sargam'(1980). With Rishi Kapoor singing all the songs and Jaya Prada playing a mute girl, it had 7 songs, 3 Rafi solos and 4 Rafi-Lata Duets. Than I remembered that even ‘Laila Majnu” had all but one Rafi song.

I am on a different thought track today. I was thinking of the approaching birthday season in my family. Thats what I call it as 3 from a family of 4 have their birthdays in the 15 day period from 23rd December to 6th January. My daughter leads the pack and son (he is the older one) brings up the rear. So I was down memory lane thinking of the time when they had just begun to walk, talk, sing or dance etc. So that put me on to the song I want to discuss today. This was a song to which my one year old daughter first shook her leg for.

“WOW” – the first reaction from my mind when I heard this song again after a very long time today. What a pleasant, delightful creation of joyous abandon this song is. One of those apparently never ending stream of gems that keep popping up from the most unexpected corners of this treasure house that we call the Hindi film music. Wow, what a song this is – a song that has stayed obscure. . . rather I would say, it has suffered obscurity for reasons that may never be completely understood. For why else would such wonderful creations of such bubbling music stay away from limelight and away from the listening pleasure of music lovers. I am sure you will believe my words when you hear it. And its obscurity is underscored by the fact that I was not able to locate it online, so far as I could search, and so I am posting this rare gem for my listener friends.
