“Bhaabhi Ki Choodiyaan” (1961) is a movie that, for most people, is associated with the immortal song Jyoti kalash chhalke. This song, written in chaste Sanskritised Hindi is so soothing to the mind that one can listen to this song every morning. And indeed there are readers of this blog who do just that every morning.

While discussing songs, I often like to discuss songs that are rare/ unusual/unexpected in some ways. For example, songs sung by people normally not known for their singing, songs composed by people who are normally known for some other activity, lyricist/music director/singer figuring in the picturisation of the song etc.

Shah Behram is one of those B grade movies that few internet sites know anything about but every one of these sites claim to have every information about them, viz plot, reviews, comments, photographs, songs, lyrics, videos etc, but when you go to that page, the page is as bald as fight master Shetty’s pate.

“Sharaabi” (1964) is a movie that had Dev Anand and Madhubala in lead roles. But despite their presence, and despite some nice music, the movie failed at the box office.

“Mast Qalandar” (1955) is an obscure B grade movie that had such B grade superstars as Mahipal, Johny Walker, Helen, Tiwari, Naaz etc in it. Kedar Kapoor was the director.

There have been two movies called “Sabse Bada Rupaiyya”. I was personally familiar with the Mehmood movie that was released in 1976. But the earlier movie with the same title was released in 1955.
