Bollywood movies have created some big myths which is now believed by everyone. One such myth is that it is possible to sit on a grand piano and play it while singing a song. In reality, playing such a big piano is so difficult that a player playing it can in no way sing as well. But our Bollywood heroes are shown merrily singing away while playing the piano, which incidentally is shown creating music of all other instuments, viz violin, guitar, dholak, flute, etc in addition to its own music.

The word “Chaand” (moon) found frequent use in bollywood songs in the past. It is a surprise that I have not yet thought of a catgory called “Chaand” song though I must have posted dozens of songs with this word in them. I guess I have included these songs in the category of “chaayaageet” songs.

This song was one of the most popular songs with one and all during its day. And as happened with me quite often those days, I was not aware about the details of this song. I could identify the voice of Rafi and Lata but that was all. In fact I did not know those days that a song had a lyricist and a music director too. I thought that the singer did everything himself/ herself. And of course I had no idea which movie it was from.

The movie “Bairaag” (1976) starred Dilip Kumar, Saira Bano and Leena Chandawarkar. This was the last movie in which Dilip Kumar was seen as a hero.

I have posted a few songs from “Sanjog” (1961) in the past. This movie had Pradeep Kumar and Anita Guha in lead roles. This movie is mainly known for its songs, and not for any great story line or any great acting.
