Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma, one half of the music director Laxmikant-Pyarelal was born on 03/09/1940. Mukesh and his co-singers –7
———————————————–
There is a school of thought amongst music lovers that the voice of Manna Dey suited better for Raj Kapoor than Mukesh. While technically, there could be substance to the concept, it remains a fact that the empathy evolving from the voice of Mukesh and the emotion and expressions of Raj Kapoor’s acting on screen fitted to a T. No wonder RK upon hearing Mukesh’s demise in far off Detroit city commented that he had lost his soul. I am of the firm opinion that the voice of Mukesh on Raj Kapoor suited most aptly than the actor singing himself.

“Lafange” (1975) was a movie produced and directed by Harmesh Malhotra. It had five songs from which the blog has one song covered. It was under Sudhirji’s series of “Rafi SB -in the seventies”.
But the more popular song of the movie was its title song “log kehte hain, ke hum lafange hain”. That is not the song we shall have today. Today, the 18th of July, is the death anniversary of one of the Hindi film industry’s biggest superstars. Probably one of its most controversial too. And certainly one of its most polarizing.
No prizes for guessing who I’m talking about. Of course, I’m talking about the one-time heartthrob of millions of women, Rajesh Khanna.
It’s been 8 years now since that day in 2012. I still remember the morning I got to hear the news – I was stunned. I knew he was ailing, but even so I never expected it would be so soon.
