‘Kaali Ghata'(1980) was a suspense thriller movie with Rekha having a double role. Shashi Kapoor played the male lead. Music was by Laxmikant Pyarelal and lyricist was Anand Bakshi. Today (4 january 2013) is the birth anniversary of Nirupa Roy (4 January 1931 – 13 October 2004). To most moviewatchers, she was the eternally suffering Maa of Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor in several movies of 1970s, but that was only part of her impressive cv. I find it curious to realise now that she at the age of 44, played the mother of Amitabh Bachchan (then aged 34) and Shashi Kapoor (then aged 38) in 1975 in Deewaar.
