Mukesh and his Composers – 46

Ramu to diwana hai (1970, 1980, 2001) was produced and directed by Chandru.

He wrote the lyrics as well as composed the songs in the film.

Further, the story, screenplay and dialogue were also by Chandru only.

Last but not the least, he also acted in it.

The confusion whether it was Chandru Atma or Chandru Hingorani continues though the latter seems confirmed.

The film titles display the name as only Chandru. There is a very clear snap of his with Raj Kapoor and his wife Krishna along with the actress of the film. And the caption also says Chandru only.

Anyway, this film started as a B/W movie in the 70s and continued to be made for a long time. It was probably censored in 2001 but never released. Some clips of the film including the titles roll are available on the net.

Mukesh sang two soulful solos and a very good duet with Suman Kalyanpur. Both the solos are represented on the blog and I bring forth the classy romantic number in this post.

1 and 2 in the table below give ample information about the making of the film and the stories behind the making.

1 Khwaabon ki duniyaa sitaaron ki duniyaa
2 Maanga thha pyaar magar
3 Tu sabse haseen hai dilruba

I am not giving the full details of the Mukesh songs in the film in the above table as all were written and composed by Chandru.

It seems this was his only film as a composer. I request knowledge readers to throw more light on Chandru if anything is available lately.

I had sought info about this film from late Shri Harish ji and I reproduce his response in as-is basis. Since he was not keeping well for a long time, he wrote in phrases, but it is amply clear that he had a lot of authentic information about films and especially anything to do with Mukesh.

Dear Maheshbhai
Ramu To Deewana Hai Banner : Razzamattazz
Actor, Lyricist, Music director : Chandru
Relative of Arjun Hingorani
There is long story behind this film
I am writing in 3-4 lines

Films shooting started around 1970 in B& W Before it completed colour films started. No value of B& W, So chandru started in B&W heroine changed. But it seems it was not completed
May be producer thought it was not up to the standard. Its songs LP came in the market
around 1980 but film was not sent for censorship. Though it was censored in 2001
it is not released till now
3 Songs of Mukesh recorded Two solo and one duet
Khwabon Ki Duniya………Mukesh
Tu sabse hasin hai……….Mukesh-Suman Kalyanpur
Meri duniyako..Maangaa thaa pyaar magar……Mukesh

Today’s beautiful duet was one of the few that I had brought out as unposted on the blog when I had covered the songs of Mukesh with Suman Kalyanpur.

Here is the link to that memorable post.

Today’s post also has a couple of video links sans the actors lip-syncing it. Hence, I am proposing the audio link only which is good enough to hear.

A beautiful duet with its sweetness amplified in the voices of Suman Kalyanpur and Mukesh.

Listen and enjoy to this duet which sounds so lively to this day.

Editor’s note:- The cast of the movie as available online is Chandru Hingorani, Deepa Rani, Yakub Sayeed, Phonsok, Manvendra Chitnis, Leela Chitnis, Chand Usmani, Janki Das, Shakeel, Toot, Rasool, Baby Ritu, Rehman, David, I.S. Johar, Gulshan Bawra, T L Desai, Padmini Kapila, Raj Kapoor etc. Video of this movie showing Chandru and Deepa Rani frolicking in a beach is available. Deepa Rani had played the role of a career conscious fiancee of Raj Kiran in the movie “Hip Hip Hurray”(1984).
Chandru Hingorani (brother of Arjun Hingorani) was an assistant of Raj Kapoor since 1950s.

This song was picturised on Chandru Hingorani and Deepa Rani.

Today’s song in this post is from the 1964 movie ‘Bhakt Dhruv Kumar’. Today I am presenting the third song from this movie. Though I had not got to listen to the songs from this movie earlier, but few months back I had shared a song from this movie which I liked very much. This song is another wonderful song and I wonder why it was not posted earlier on this blog.

There were days in the past when I used to make sure that I covered one song from a debutant movie and another song that was the final song of the movie (in other words, the movie got YIPPEED with that song). That was part of my new year resolution of 2018. On that year I managed to stick to the resloution of one debutant movie daily upto 28 April 2018 ( with four days break on 29 January, 8 april, 20 april, 27 april). The resolution of one YIPPEED movie every day lasted till 24 April 2018 (with break of three days for YIPPEE songs-22 January, 20 April and 22 April). Following the new year resolution for nearly four months must be considered a heroic performance seeing how most new resolutions die out in less than a week. 🙂

In this year 2026, I have made rather feeble resolutions. With over 5100 movies already represented in the blog, there was not much scope left for covering one debutant movie every day. If some movies are still making debuts on the blog, it is thanks to the contributions of some enthusiastic guest contributors.
