We in this blog often pay tributes of HFM artists on the occasion of their birthdays as well as their remembrance anniversaries. These artists are typically singers, lyricists, music directors and actors. But there are others in the background who also contribute in the creation of songs and movies. Since most of them work behind thge scene, they often go uncredited even though their contribution in creating a composition could be of vital importance.
Take the example of the song under discussion. The song being discussed in the post is the iconic song from “Julie”(1975) viz-“Dil kya kare jab kisi se kisee ko pyaar ho jaaye”. People may exclaim how this song is not yet covered in the blog. People would be justified in wondering why this song has not yet been covered when every other song of the movie is already covered.

When Atul started the series of “Alphabetical list of actresses who have lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice”, he had asked readers to suggest actresses, whose name started with the letter B and whose Asha Bhosle’s song have not been covered on this blog. When he covered the letter B he kindly took up my suggestion of Bhanupriya. Bhagyashree was the other actress. I had also suggested Bipasha Basu, but the song suggested by me was only a background song and not lip-synched by the actress. As a comment to the B-instalment of Atul’s series, I also mentioned Bharati Sharma. So the next post, God-willing, will cover the song dil lagaane ko dil from Hai Golmaal in White House (2013).
Bhagyashree’s story is unlike that of most Bollywood actresses. Long before she became a household name, she was born into royalty. She hails from the illustrious Patwardhan family of Sangli in Maharashtra and is the great-granddaughter of Chintamanrao Dhundirao Patwardhan, the last ruling Raja of the princely state of Sangli during British rule.

“Jo Tu Na Tha” is sung by Arijit Singh, the lyrics are by Irshad Kamil and is composed by Shaswat Sachdev. The song is from the 2026 blockbuster film “Dhurandar – The Revenge”.
The song “Phir Se” is not staged as a conventional romantic number. Instead, it serves as the emotional epilogue of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, accompanying the film’s closing sequence as the protagonist Jaskirat finally returns home after the violence and sacrifices that define the story. The song was specifically conceived as the film’s ending theme and includes an evocative veena passage by Ramana Balachandhran.

Today’s song is from a Costume film ‘Awaara Shahzadi’ (1956).
1956 was the Silver Jubilee year of Indian Talkie Films. This year, the most successful films were entertainers. There were of course some films carrying social messages. One of them was ‘Jaagte Raho’ (‘Ek Din Ratre’ in Bangla), which tried to bring out the upper middle class hypocrisy in a metro city like Bombay. Initially, the film did not make any ripples, but after it won international awards, it became very popular. (People of other nations have to tell us that our film is good !). A social message, excellent music and solid story – the hallmarks of an RK film were all there in it.

Today’s song is from the film Gaon-1947.
After the II World War was over, it was clear that the British were unable to rule India anymore, due to the war effects on their own country – which was their first priority to mend and develop now. Most Indians felt that the British were leaving India because of Gandhi and Nehru. The respect for these two affected the film industry too. Films on what Gandhi taught about villages and village life and farmers were made. Film gaon-1947 was also one of these films, which tried to emphasize that life in the villages was better than cities and the Indian culture can thrive only in villages. After the exit of Gandhi, Nehru’s philosophy was followed in the films of post 1948 and the decade of 1950’s. Major producer- directors like Mehboob Khan and Bimal Roy, for example, were true followers of Nehru’s Socialist Philosophy, which prompted them to make films like Mother India and Naya Daur etc. Lets not go into discussing politics, post independence. This is not a platform for that.

Mukesh and his NFS – 15
At the outset, as I post the last of the 4 available private songs (out of 6) which Mukesh sang in Delhi in 1939-40, I take this opportunity to once again profusely thank Shri Pawan Tanay ji for uploading these priceless gems on his youtube channel.
Had it not been for his generous gesture, these 4 private songs would have also remained only in print with no access to sound bites of a 16-year-old who would soon turn into a legend.
