———————————————————–—-
(A tribute to Music Director & Lyricist Ravi)
————————————————————————
Today I present a song from the movie ‘Mera Suhaag-1987’.
I was longing to share this song here for many years. I got to listen to this song, for the first time nearly one decade ago when I was staying in Kachchh (Gujarat). I used to commute from Mundra to my workplace near Adipur and back by ST (GSRTC) Bus. The driver of the Bus used to play songs from his pen drive daily. This song was among the songs played. I liked this song very much when I listened to it first time, and I got to listen to it on one or two more occasions during my commute.

Madhur Bhandarkar, the four-time National Film Award winner, is known to make films on some unusual issues. Some of his films’ titles like ‘Chandni Bar’ (2001), ‘Satta’ (2003), ‘Page-3’ (2005), ‘Corporate’ (2006), ‘Traffic Signal’ (2007), ‘Fashion’ (2008), ‘Heroine’ (2012), ‘Calendar Girls’ (2015) are indicative of the diverse and unusual subjects he has covered in his films. He does not think that his films are exposes but they show what is happening in society without passing value judgement. Usually, he makes films with one or two well-known actors. Rest of actors are usually from the theatre/TV background. Songs in his films are not a priority. Most of the issues he takes up in his film are Mumbai-based.

So this year 2023 has seen two centuries, both clocked in 28 days apiece. It is a vast improvement over the average days taken for the blog centuries of last few years. We are still far off from the all time record of a century in 11 days (achieved in 2011) but things are looking up as far as Blog daily strike rate is concerned.

Hullo Atuldom
India is celebrating the 75th year of its Independence. Mumbai based Rajshri productions and distribution company is also celebrating its 75th year.
I am sure we have many knowledgeable followers in the blog who will give us information on how Rajshri took to making critically acclaimed films that were also commercially successful. Most of their films had stories that stressed on values, family ties, unity etc. and provided opportunity for family outings. I recall a cinema hall in Chembur, Mumbai was decked up, almost like a wedding hall, when Rajshri’s ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’ was released and all of the outfits worn by its characters became a rage at that time.
