Not just that, I was gently given the hint to discuss the songs of this movie with the lyrics of songs to this movie being e mailed to me. Today, 31st July, is Rafi saab’s death anniversary. It is a date that evokes emotions in many Rafi saab fans even thirty years after his death. Many of them, especially if they are in their 50s or more, will remember the 31st of July 1980 as one of those “where were you on that day?” events, associated in the past with JFK’s assassination in 1963 and the successful moon-landing in 1969, and more recently with 9/11 or India’s own 26/11.

“Howrah Bridge” (1958) was a landmark movie in the annals of Hindi movie club songs. This movie had not one but two club songs that went on to become immortal clu songs. One was of course the Helen song Mera naam Chin Chin Choo and the other was the Madhubala song Aayiye meharbaan (Howrah Bridge) .

I came across this song a few hours ago. And I wondered where this song was hiding all these days from my view.
This is a nice club/part dance song from “Parvarish” (1958). The song is sung by Lata and Manna Dey. Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist and the delightful music is composed by Dattaram.
