Today (8 march 2023) is Holi, the festival of colour. The mythology and history behind the festival are well known and need not be repeated.
Still there were some facts about Holi that I was not aware of. For example, I was not aware that Holi festival falls on Poornima (full moon day), which is the last day of the month of falgun (also called Phagun). This is in fact the last day of the Vikram Samwat Calender. The next day, viz first day of The month of Chaitra starts is the first day of the new year of Vikram Samwat.

# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Composer– R.D. Burman-Parchhaayiyaan-1972)
——————————————-———————————————
In this post I present a song from the ‘1972’ movie ‘Parchhaayiyaan’. Though the music of this movie is composed by R.D. Burman, none of the songs from this movie ring a bell for me. I may have forgotten them, in case I had listened to them, or may be I failed to associate them with this title.

28 january 2023 saw song post number 17400 appearing on the blog. Today (25 february 2023) finds us reaching song post number 17500 on the blog.
Yes, this post is the 175th century post for the blog. It has come in 28 days, which equals the number of days taken for the previous century. So this year 2023 has seen two centuries, both clocked in 28 days apiece. It is a vast improvement over the average days taken for the blog centuries of last few years. We are still far off from the all time record of a century in 11 days (achieved in 2011) but things are looking up as far as Blog daily strike rate is concerned.

# A tribute to Talat Mahmood on his birth anniversary #

The song being presented in this post is from the ‘Bhojpuri’ film titled ‘Laagi Nahin Chhoote Raam-1963’.
I got to listen to this song on ‘Vividh Bharati’ more than a month or two back. I fell in love with this song immediately. I do not remember to have listened to this song earlier. This song is a lovely duet song sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Talat Mahmood.

Today’s song is a duet from the film Chor-1950. For reasons unknown, the name of this film in HFGK is written as Chore, whereas everywhere else, including in Hindi in HFGK itself it is mentioned as Chor only !
The film was directed by Anand Prasad Kapoor (32 films as a director and 2 films as an actor) and the film had music from Pt. Govind Ram. Before we move further, I have a query – do you know which actor in Hindi films had his real name as Indriya Daman (इंद्रिय दमन ) ? I know it is a difficult question and 99% readers will not be able to give the right answer.

Regulars on the blog must be aware of my love for the year 1983. It was an important year of my life as I had appeared and successfully passed the Board exams for standard 10th that year. And the other important and unforgettable happening of the year was India winning the World Cup of Cricket in that year.
There were many other things also but here we come back to our most favorite topic i.e. Hindi films.
