Kishore Kumar made his debut as a solo playback singer in 1948, when he sang a song in “Ziddi”(1948) for Dev Anand. For much of the next two decades or so, Kishore Kumar sang either for himself or for Dev Anand. But it does not mean that he did not get opportunities to sing for other actors.

In early 1950s, movies like “Jhamela” and “jhaanjhar” were produced and the songs of these movies were big rage. No one remembers these movies though. The reason is, the prints of these movies were destroyed in a fire that took place in the place where the prints of these movies were kept.

“Baaraati” (1954) is an obscure movie that starred Agha,Chand Usmani, Sham Kumar,Om Prakash etc. Few people remember this movie today. The songs of this movie are nice songs to listen to, though.

By now I have discussed as many as 39 songs composed by Sajjad Hussain for Hindi movies. Considering that he gave music for only about 100 songs, finding the remaining songs is becoming increasingly difficult and so discovery of every additional Sajjad Hussain song from now onwards in a cause to rejoice, because the remaining song are truly difficult to locate.

Aayi bahaar muskuraayi bahaar

Here is an A grade song from a B grade movie called “Roop Kumari” (1956). This movie had Shakila and Mahipal in lead roles. Considering that the song is sung by Geeta Dutt, it can be assumed that the song was picturised on Shakila.
