Let me narrate how I took this step of attempting a blog for ASAD. I had the good fortune of joining the Gang out at Bangalore recently, (7 November 2015). Having read the wonderful write ups of various contributors, I had formed pictures of the contributors mind, based on their efforts and their researches on the materials of the song/topic/artiste. So when I accepted the invitation from Raja , I was a little in awe of the people I was ikely to meet face to face or through (proposed) skype/or equivalent chat.

Yesterday (11 november 2015) was the festival of Deepaawali. Most people enter into the Deepaawali festive mood from three to four days in advance and the hangover of the festival lasts for some more days. I, being philosophical in my outlook try to treat all days as the same. But there are people around me who try to disturb my philosophical ways of living. 🙂

Forgotten Melodies of the 1940s – 4
———————————————————

I have been looking for some rare songs which are generally not available on YT. Some of them are gems which are required to be brought to the notice of the wider section of the admirers of Hindi film music. Thanks to some of the collectors of old Hindi film songs and also thanks to internet technologies, such gems can now be stored in mp3 format and easily shared. One of the websites which has become a kind of a store house of old Hindi film songs in mp3 format is Dr Surjit Singh’s Website. With a large collection, the attendant problem is in searching for the required songs/films. One must be extremely patient in searching for the required songs or films as the records of mp3 clips have not been maintained in any particular order as of now.

Since then, the only additional information I could get about this film was that it was a social genre film. The film’s VCD/DVD is not available.
