Today is Holi and it is just the right occasion for me to post “Holi” festival songs. Last year I posted most well known Holi songs. But there are still a few nice Holi songs that still remain to be posted.

Last year, when it was the day of Rakshabandhan (Rakhi), I had posted “bhaiyya mere raakhi ke bandhan ko nibhaana”. One year has passed since, and today is Rakshabandhan again. Here is another immortal rakshabandhan song on this occasion.

“Insaaniyat” (1955) was one movie which brought Dilip Kumar and Dev Anand together. Bina Rai and Vijaylaxmi were also there in this movie.

“Haqeeqat” (1964) was a movie full of wonderful songs. The movie itself was depressing for the Indian audience, considering the storyline of the movie.

“Nastik” (1954) is known for some very nice memorable songs. The well known song “dekh tere sansaar ki haalat kya ho gayi sansaar” is from this very movie, which I have posted in this blog.

Have you ever felt like a student taking an examination who is unable to recall the correct answers during the examination, only to be able to recall them perfectly well after the exam is over ? well, I am feeling the same way vis a vis Holi songs.

Hori khele Raghuveera Awadh mein

I am of the opinion that most great Bollywood songs on any topic were created before 1980. After 1980, there was a steady deterioration in the quality of such songs where lyrics took the back seat and plagiarised “disco” tunes replaced erstwhile tunes.
