Recently, I watched the film, ‘7½ Phere’ (2005) on one of the video sharing platforms mainly for two reasons – the catchy title of the film and an interesting combination of Juhi Chawla and Irrfan Khan in the lead roles. The short description of the film by the uploader states that a TV channel decides to go for the reality show of a live wedding in Indian family. The task is given to a first time director who selects a joint family in Mumbai for the same. The director gets into some problems with the senior members of the family who deny the live shooting of the family wedding. The director, with maiden project in jeopardy, gets into a deal with a member of a bride’s family to secretly shoot the wedding functions resulting in a chain of hilarious events.

Today (9 march 2023) early morning, the first WhatsApp message I read in my family group was about producer-director-writer-actor Satish Kaushik who breath his last on the way to a hospital in Delhi early morning following a heart attack. His funeral is likely to take place in Mumbai later in the day. Next month, he would have completed 67 years, an age when many actors have rediscovered themselves in film industries. I felt very sorry that one of the few genial faces of the Hindi film industry and an actor who regaled us through his unique style of acting and dialogue delivery was no more with us. For now, only his films will keep his memory live.

Today’s song is from a C grade Stunt film – Fighting Hero-1946.
1946 was an important year in the history of Hindi films. This was the period when the impending Independence of India was on the Anvil and everyone knew that in the year 1947 it would take place. At the same time when the country was to be divided on the basis of Religion and another muslim country Pakistan was to come into existence. Many of the muslims in the film industry were excitedly awaiting their departure from India to the Utopia. This would, naturally, create a lot of vacancies in every department of film making. However, there was enough talent available in the remaining India to fill up the void. Hence from the year 1946 itself there were several debutantes. This made the year 1946 an year of Debuts of several new actors, directors, MDs, Lyricists etc etc.

(A tribute to Music Director & Lyricist Ravi)

Today I present a song from the movie ‘Mera Suhaag-1987’.
I was longing to share this song here for many years. I got to listen to this song, for the first time nearly one decade ago when I was staying in Kachchh (Gujarat). I used to commute from Mundra to my workplace near Adipur and back by ST (GSRTC) Bus. The driver of the Bus used to play songs from his pen drive daily. This song was among the songs played. I liked this song very much when I listened to it first time, and I got to listen to it on one or two more occasions during my commute.

——————————————-———————————————
In this post I present a song from the ‘1972’ movie ‘Parchhaayiyaan’. Though the music of this movie is composed by R.D. Burman, none of the songs from this movie ring a bell for me. I may have forgotten them, in case I had listened to them, or may be I failed to associate them with this title.

#Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Samaadhi-1972)
———————————————————————
In this post we are going to listen to a song from the movie ‘Samaadhi-1972’.
This song seems to be excluded from the movie after its release. One comment on the link of this song suggests ‘this song was there when the movie was released initially’. And this comment also mentions that this song is shown as the ‘naach-gaana’ or ‘party song’ at the ‘dacoits’ head quarters’ or at the ‘addaa of the daaku giroh’ 🙂
