‘Yuva’ (2004) was produced by Mani Ratnam and G Srinivasan under the banner of Madras Talkies and was directed by Mani Ratnam. The film was simultaneously shot in Tamil as ‘Aaytha Ezhuthu’ (2004) with a different cast. The film was loosely based on the life story of George Reddy, a student leader who was a gold medalist in his post-graduation in Nuclear Physics from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He died young at the age of 25 by a stab wound in his college campus.

Hullo Atuldom

A few songs have been playing in my head over the last few days. These are accompanied by random thoughts too. Most songs match the thoughts.

I found an old snap of me & my brother and I thought of zindagi ek safar hai suhaana. Then I was going through some more photos and saw snaps of picnics that I had enjoyed with my family, friends, schoolmates & collegemates. That put me on to ban ke panchhi gaaye pyaar ka taraana & main chali main chali dekho pyaar ki gali.

#the Decade of Sixties – 1961 – 1970 #
———————————————————————

We cover a Geeta Dutt song in this post. The song is from the movie ‘Aawaaraa Ladki-1967’.

Three songs from this movie have been presented on the blog. While covering one of the songs of this movie, Shri Sudhir ji mentioned that no information was available about the director and cast. While some details of songs were available, lyricist for two songs were not available in the Geet Kosh Vol-IV (1961-1970).

# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Debutant Movie- Ham Bhi Kuchh Kam Nahin-1979)
——————————————-——————————————

Today we introduce the movie “Ham Bhi Kuchh Kam Nahin-1979” on the blog.

I guess that this was an obscure movie of its time. My guess is that this must be a dubbed movie from a southern movie.

“Ham Bhi Kuchh Kam Nahin-1979” was directed by M.S. Gopinath for ‘Golden Eagle Films, Bombay’. It had Krishna, Jaya Chitra, Kavita, Vijay Lalita and others. HFGK Vol-V (1971-1980) mentions only these four names under the cast of this movie.

In this post I present a song from the movie “Aazaadi Ke Baad-1951”.

“Aakrosh” (1980) was directed by Govind Nihalani. Produced by Devi Dutt & NFDC. It had Vijay Tendulkar & Satyadev Dubey as writers; which meant that the film was either an Art film (meaning audiences fed on fantasy & escapist stories would not buy a ticket to see it) or at least a middle of the road film (meaning it showed the realities of the times in a not-so-harsh manner). I have never seen the film, so I don’t know what category it falls under. But various sites on the internet have classified “Aakrosh” as crime – drama.

The song in this post is from the movie ‘Apna Khoon Apna Dushman-1969’.

I do not remember to have heard the title of this movie or its songs in the past. Of late, I have been coming across many movies from the sixties where I am not aware either of the movie or it’s songs or both.

Today’s song is from a stunt film Baboo ji-1950.

Oh my God ! Can’t believe it !! My 1200th Post !!!

Honestly, more than Joy, I am amazed how I have reached this stage. Entering this field was never planned by me. When I detached myself from working with my Pharma background finally in 2008 ( I had retired in 1998, but I ran my Consultancy Company till another 10 years ), I had no plans of what I was going to do in my free time.

# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Debutant Movie- Namaskaar-1978)
——————————————-——————————

Today we get introduced to a movie tilted ‘Namaskaar’ from the year 1978. It is only through Geet Kosh Vol-V (1971-1980) that I become aware of this movie.

This seems to be a very obscure movie of its time and a forgotten one.
