‘Adhikaar’ meaning ‘Rights’ is a title that has been used four times by Bollywood. This information I gathered from the blog’s ‘List of songs- Moviewise’ tab. Of the four films titled ‘Adhikaar’ the ones released in 1938, 1954, and 1971 have already made their debut on the blog; in fact the ones released in 1954 and 1971 have been Yippeee’d too. The 1938 ‘Adhikaar’ has four out of seven songs on the blog. Today’s post sees ‘Adhikar’ (1986) make is debut on the blog. The song with this post is the one that plays as the movie’s titles play on-screen and we can see this ‘Adhikar’ is an ‘a’ short.

26th Ocotober is a day when we wish the first Follower of the blog Rajaji on turning a year younger. He is the ‘yaaron-ka-yaar’ who is currently off the radar. Hope he marks his presence on the blog and reads this post. He is not a kanjoos (and I have a whole set of the followers of the blog who will endorse my statement) and will not shy away from giving us a treat by saying a “Hello”. Actually, I sincerely hope he is fine, the last post by him, as a guest contributor, was on 8th March 2021- for the birth centenary of his favourite lyricist/ poet Sahir Ludhianvi.

A very Happy Republic day to one and all.

This is the national pledge which is commonly found printed in the opening pages of the school text books and calendars. It is recited in the morning assembly of most Indian schools. It is part of the Indian Constitution. It is commonly recited by Indians in unison at public events, Independence day, Republic day etc. At least it used be so when I was a student, don’t know if this is still in practice. We all know who wrote the National Anthem or the National song but the author of the National Pledge is largely unknown. His name is P.V. Subba Rao who was a Telugu author and bureaucrat who composed the pledge when he was serving as District Treasury Officer in Vishakapatnam district in 1962/63. It was subsequently translated into other languages. Apparently Subba Rao himself was unaware of the Pledge having been adopted as National Pledge till he heard his grand daughter reading it from a textbook.

Wishing all a happy Dassera. I know parts of India celebrated the festival on Sunday and parts are celebrating it today. I think that has something to do with the movement of the Moon from one constellation to another or mostly the phases of the moon which doesn’t necessarily follow the Gregorian calendar. At the outset I must admit that I am a little confused as I write this post. The person/ celebrity/ actress/ star for whose birthday this is, has aged gracefully and looks fabulous even now. But I am confused about her year of birth. When I wrote this post Phir Bhor Bhayee Jaaga Madhuban in 2018 I found information on various sites on the internet by which I had mentioned that she was turning 64. Over the last few weeks I am finding information by which she would be 74 this year. Can a person age 10 years in two years?

Sai Paranjpye has so far directed 8 feature films in Hindi. She has written story and script for all these films. Each of these films has some interesting background as to what prompted her to make those films.
