Sakhi ri mera man uljhe tan dole

“Chitralekha” (1964) was a labour of love for Roshan and he had composed some superb songs in this movie. So it was a heart break for him when the movie did not do well at the box office, almost like what happened with Madan Mohan with “Jahan Ara” in the same year.

I just realised that “aankh”( eyes) played a very important role in the songs created by Madan Mohan. Just name the movie, and chances are there will be a very well known “aankh” song in that Madan Mohan, be it “Anpadh” or “Mera Saaya” or any other movie.

“Bahut Din Huye” (1954) had as many as 16 songs composed by two music directors. B S Kalla (14 songs) got the lion’s share whereas two songs were composed by E S Shastry.
