“Majhli Didi” (1967) was produced by Kochi Sarkaar and Gopal Mukherjee and produced by Hrishikesh Mukherjee for K G Pictures. The movie was based on Sharatchandra Chattopadhyay’s Bangla novel “Mejhdidi”. Today (24 september 2014) is the eighth death anniversary of Padmini (12 june 1932-12 24 september 2006). She was one of three famous dancing sisters who were known as Travancore sisters. Her other two sisters were Lalitha (elde to her)and Raagini (younger to her). The three of them worked in Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi movies.

Today (23 september 2014) is the death anniversary of Rajinder Krishan, a versatile and prolific lyricist of the golden era. He made his debut as a lyricist in late 1940s and he was supposedly past his prime by 1970s, but he continued to pen some superb songs even in 1970s. 1973 was a year when Rajinder Krishan wrote songs in “Banarasi Baabu”, “Jwaar Bhaata”, “Kahaani Kismat Ki” and “Blackmail” ! People loved the songs of these movies, majority of them (including myself) without knowing the details of these songs.

Today (2 september 2014) is the birth anniversary of Sadhana, the heart throb of millions of movie watchers in 1960s.

A few of her movies that were started in late 1960s had to be held in abeyance because Sadhana suffered from an ailment that affected her face. This, plus the fact that time and tide waits for none, meant that she was a pale shadow of her earlier self when she returned back after getting healed. Time had passed her by in the interim. Shooting of a few of her incomplete movies were resumed but it was too late by that time and these movies failed at the box office.
