Main wohi wohi baat

Today (6 november) is the 27th death anniversary of Sanjeev Kumar. When most of his contemporary actors were content to get typedcast in certain kinds of roles and would spend their entire career playing the same kinds of role, Sanjeev Kumar would play just about any kind of character that he was offered. While signing up movies, he did not worry about the impact of that role on his star value. To worry about one’s stardom was for lesser actors, not for Sanjeev Kumar , who could play roles that most heroes would summarily reject. Sanjeev Kumar played roles of deaf and dumb (Koshish), pimp (Manoranjan), Old man (in several movies), mad (Khilona) etc. His star value remained undiminished, no matter what kind of roles he played in his movies.

Thanks to cyclone ‘Nilam’ whole of Tamil Nadu, parts of Andhra & many parts of Karnataka are having rains for the past few days. And Bangalore has gone cold. So we are experiencing fantastic romantic (in my husband’s words) climate. Baarish bhi sardi bhi!!! Ab in such a situation I read this post by Atul and thought wow! He has posted “Rama Rama“from “Naya Zamaana” so we can have one more “rain” song. Then I saw that we have a song from “Dus Lakh” soon thereafter so I thought we really need another romantic song to celebrate the weather. So here it is from “Maan Gaye Ustaad” starring Shashi kapoor Hema Malini Pran & wonder of wonders Amjad Khan playing Hema’s long lost brother. Imagine this relationship if you remember “Sholay” & “Jab Tak Hai Jaan” (mind it I am here talking of the Sholay song not Yash Chopra’s next movie’s title, God let him rest in peace).
