Hullo Atuldom
Born into the film industry. Married into another famous movie-making family. Debut film (in Hindi) with a star-son; a Khan at that. In fact, heroes in her first six films had KHAN as their last name.
I am speaking of Rani Mukherjee who was born into the Mukherjee-Samarth family. Her father Ram Mukherjee was the son of Ravindramohan Mukherjee who was Sashadhar Mukherjee’s (founder of Filmalaya studios) brother. Her mother is the playback singer Krishna Mukherjee. Additionally her brother is director Raja Mukherjee. So that is Rani’s maayka.

On this date ten years back viz on 2 March 2013, four songs from four different movies (plus one NFS) were covered in the blog. Here are the details:-
| Blog post number | Song | Movie (Year) | Remarks |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7585 | Aseer e gham ka bhala phir kahaan thhikaana thha | Kamla Jharia NFS(1934) | |
| 7586 | O paagal premi | Saudaamini (1950) | 7 songs covered out of 9 by now |
| 7587 | Main hoon kali matwaali | Panghat(1943) | 6 songs covered out of 12 by now |
| 7588 | Mausam hai bada mastaana | Tarzan aur Hercules(1966) | One song covered out of 5 by now |
| 7588 | Ae chaand ki zebaayi | Chhoti Si Mulaaqaat (1967) | Movie YIPPEED by now |
We can see that one NFS and four film songs (from four different movies) were covered on this date ten years ago (on 2 March 2013). One movie (out of four) whose songs were covered on that day has since been YIPPEED in the blog. So three of those movies are eligible for Blog Ten Year Challenge today (2 March 2023).

Today 18th February 2023 is the Ninety-sixth birth anniversary of Mohammed Zahur “Khayyam” Hashmi Saab, whom we fondly know as Khayyam Saab. Had he been alive, he would have turned ninety-six years old today.
He was born on 18.02.1927 and he passed away on 19.08.2019.
As a tribute to him today I am presenting his song composition from the movie “Mohabbaton Kaa Safar-1995”.

Hullo Atuldom
At the outset let me wish an active Atulite on his birthday. These days his status has changed from ‘active’ to ‘hyper-active’ Atulite. He is the major guest contributor for the blog these days. It is almost like he has taken it upon himself that the blog should continue its race towards centuries at superfast pace; so much so that, the century number 174 happened in 28 days- the fastest since 23rd March 2018. In fact January 2023 saw a 100 posts- the last time this happened was also in March of 2018 (118 posts). 53 of the 100 posts of January was by this hyper-active guest contributor who goes by the name Avinash Scrapwala- and it should be kept in mind that none of his posts are SCRAP they are all good to read with accurate lyrics and most of his 688 posts have lyrics in Devnagri script too. (the number for this stands at 410).

(A tribute to Lata Mangeshkar on her first ‘Remembrance Anniversary’)
Today we pay our tributes to the greatest singer of our country Late Lata Mangeshkar on her ‘first Remembrance Anniversary’ on 6 February 2023.
She passed away last year in 2022 on this day.
As a tribute to her today I am presenting a ‘lesser-heard’ song from the ‘1979’ movie ‘Aur Kaun’. I was not aware of this song anytime in the past. I was aware of the name of the movie, though which was released in my childhood and was ‘certified’ as an ‘adult movie’, thus ruling out any chances that I would be able to watch it during its first run. . As luck would have it, I never got an opportunity to watch this movie. (Watching it on Internet is the most uncomfortable thing for me so I have not tried it. May be in future if it is required I will try 🙂 ).
