“Daak Bangla” (1947) is a movie produced by an official sounding Production house namely Indian National Pictures Limited. 😀
The movie was directed by M Sadiq and it had actors like Wasti , Suraiyya,Gope,Rampyaari,M Ismail etc. Kamal Kapoor who later went on to have a long career as a baddie in Hindi movies, made his debut in this movie.

“Aadhi Raat” (1950) is a movie which was a Kuldip pictures production. It was directed by S K Ojha. This movie had Ashok Kumar and Nargis in lead roles. But if IMDB is to be believed then Cuckoo, Jeewan and Kuldip Kaur were the stars of this movie. 🙂

“Rattan” (1944) was a movie that was musically a major milestone for Hindi movie music. The music of this movie served as a major trendsetter. The music of this movie was based on folk music, as against classical music. This ensured that movie goers, who were exposed to such music in their day to day life, were able to identify with this kind of music better. “Panghat” (1943) is a Prakash pictures movie which was produced by Vijay Bhatt and directed by K J Parmar and Mahesh Chandra. There was not much known about this movie, but thanks to Mr Arunkumar’s comments about this movie in another song of “Panghat”, we now have a good idea about the story of this movie as well as about the actors.

There are rare sings that one can come across just by stumbling against them while browsing sites like YT. But there are rare songs that cannot be discovered this way. You can find them only when you specifically look for them by the name of the movie, lyricist etc. And such songs may not even be available on YT, that is how rare they are.

I am aware of a movie called “Dada” (1978). Later I found out that another movie of the same name was released in 1966 too. Both these movies incidentally had the same music director, viz Usha Khanna.
Now I find that there was another movie of the same name, which was released in 1949.

Ek yaad kisi ki yaad rahi

“Shamaa” (1946) is a movie about which very little information is available and digging up information about this movie is a time consuming process. And irritatingly, the little information that turns up is incorrect as well. So I decided to dig up my own comments from the two earlier songs of this movie that I had discussed in the past. From those comments, I see that this movie has Mehtab and Rehana in this movie.
