When one has to find details about Hindi movie songs, especially old songs, one has to be quite wary of the authenticity of the information. There are information about old songs that are incorrect. If such an information appears in one site, then it is faithfully cut and pasted by all other sites, and with time it becomes Gospel.

These days, I love to listen to the songs sung by female singers of 1930s and 1940s. And one singer that I have discovered only just recently is Nirmala Devi. today, she is known to people more as the mother of actor Govinda, but to me she is a star in her own right.

Present day movie watchers may associate the title “Khiladi” with Akshay Kumar, but a title like this has been used in Hindi movies for a long time. For example, there was a movie called ‘Khiladi” as far back as 1950. This movie had Ashok Kumar, Suraiyya, Sundar, Indu, Kukku etc in it.

“Sharbati Aankhen” (1945) is by now an extremely obscure movie and very little information is available about this movie. The information that I have been able to gather (and it may be outright wrong too) is that this movie was directed by Ramchandra Thakur and this movie had actors like Vanmala, Ishwarlal, Agha etc.

“Shaarda” (1942) is a movie that was produced by A R Kardar. This movie had actors like Arun Kumar Ahuja, Shyam Kumar, Badriprasad, Baburao Sansare, Nirmala Devi, Amir Bano, Mehtab etc.

“Veena” (1948) is a by now obscure movie. This movie had actors like Rahman, Yaqub, Sulochana Chaterjee, Veera, Hemawati etc in it and most of these names ring no bells in my mind.
